Fall is the perfect time for taking a vacation. It’s not too hot and it’s not too cold. You beat the mayhem of just-before-Christmas vacationers, and you can even get some shopping out of the way before the Christmas Eve rush.

Since we specialize in rustic furniture, it only seems right to highlight rustic vacation spots. This vacation spot will be our first feature in the series. And for this rustic vacation, we choose… Telluride, Colorado!

Tucked away San Juan mountains, this quaint town is perfect for your rustic adventures. Whether you like to ski, snowboard, snowshoe, hike, fly fish, shop, explore, mountain bike, hang glide, go white water rafting, kayak, rock climb, or ride horses – this is the place for you. Talk about a rustic vacation!

It’s the perfect spot for you and yours to spend some time. For the outdoorsmen, this place is flowing with activities that fit your lifestyle. But this place also offers something for the less-than-outdoorsy type. The shopping is wonderful and the views are breathtaking. The gondola takes you from Mountain Village to Telluride and back. You can also take the gondola up to a variety of hiking trails ranging from beginner all the way to advanced (I am a beginner).

Perhaps what I love most about this rustic vacation spot is how much the town embraces simplicity. The people are friendly and welcoming. Also, rustic décor is everywhere! From wagon wheels to antlers, rustic furniture is obviously a local favorite. Balconies are adorned with rustic rocking chairs (like our Heritage Rocker) and rustic benches.

So the next time you are planning a vacation, be sure to check out Telluride. There’s plenty to do – and did I mention there are a few fabulous spas (oh, and a great Farmer’s Market!)?
